Lourdes 2016·Decentraland 2022
happily married, and counting
In March 2016 my fiancé asked me to marry him at Glendalough, in Ireland, and I said yes. Three months later I learned he had been seeing someone else the whole time. So I cancelled my wedding.
On 16 July 2016, our original wedding date, I went to Lourdes instead, the place people travel to in order to be healed. I married myself in front of the Grotto, among prayers and tourists. Six years later I renewed my vows in the metaverse.
Everything else in this work begins here. I thought sologamy was a statement about self-sufficiency. Looking back, it was a prophecy. Ten years later, the partner has become optional for everyone, an app, a profile, an AI that answers back. Nobody finds this strange anymore.

I kept the honeymoon. A double room in Palma, one guest. All week the congratulations kept arriving, from people who had not understood there was no groom.

Congratulations Éva 🎉

Six years later, I renewed my vows in the metaverse.

Before you leave, the bride is throwing the bouquet.
She intends to catch it herself, but you may try.
