Sologamy

2016–ongoing · Performance

In 2016, after a broken engagement, I married myself at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, the place people travel to in order to be healed. White dress, bouquet, no groom, no guests. In 2022 I married myself again, this time in the metaverse.

Everything else in this work begins here. I thought sologamy was a statement about self-sufficiency. Looking back, it was a prophecy: the partner made optional, then made by hand, then made by machine.
